Lame Lives...

Hey all...sorry it's been SO long since we've posted anything but we haven't done anything exciting in a while! I don't have anything to blog about?!?! I've just been reading a lot lately. I've been getting off work at 5 during the week, which has left me with all this time in the evenings that I'm not used to and since it's been sunny I like to see the sun as much as possible since I practically didn't for a year and a half. So when I come home from work, I grab a book and a blanket and curl up in the living room in front of our massive window. It just makes me SUPER happy!

Twilight - I've been reading the series again for yeah, the third time! Can I just say how INCREDIBLE these books are?? If you haven't read them you HAVE to! You can borrow mine! 3rd time and it still feels like the first, I practically forgot everything!! And, if you weren't super happy with the movie, you can read them again and get your Edward back :) I've read all four in a little over a week! I wish there were more!!

Jane Austen - okay so I haven't read all her books but I'm trying! My mom let me borrow her Jane Austen anthology, it's about 5 inches thick! While the books are good, the movies are oh so good! My mom got me into them and Nate can't stand it. It's kind of funny. For weeks when I still worked graveyards he'd come home in the afternoon and the menu of "Pride and Prejudice" would be blaring on my TV while I was sound asleep. My favorites are...

1. Persuasion - the BBC Masterpiece Theatre version is the best. You can borrow if you want..

2. Pride and Prejudice - the Keira Knightly version!

3. Northanger Abbey - BBC version

4. Becoming Jane - this is a movie about Jane Austen with Anne Hathaway and the INCREDIBLY gorgeous James McAvoy. It's SO good!!

Jodi Picoult - Another amazing author. Shauna Lake introduced me to her novels. She's not afraid to write about touchy subjects like rape, school shootings, marital abuse.. you name it, she's probably written about it or has plans to. You might have heard of her novel "My Sister's Keeper". Great book but my favorite is probably "Nineteen Minutes" or "The Tenth Circle." All three are great reads. The most recent one I read is called "Picture Perfect" It's about a woman who loses her memory, then finds out she is married to Hollywood's hottest actor, but eventually she realizes the reason she lost her memory was because she left him, and the whole book you're trying to figure out if he really loves her. Most of Picoult's books have some kind of twist to them in the end. At the end of "My Sister's Keeper" I was bawling my eyes out!! You can get her books at costco for like 10 dollars! WORTH IT! Or you can always borrow any of mine! I love to share great reads!

Last of all, The Work and The Glory. I haven't read this in a while but I plan on finishing the series eventually. While its a fictional series it contains so much history. The only fictional parts of the book are the Steed family. Everything else is highly researched LDS Church History. I've learned SO much about the history of my faith and it really gives you perspective of how horrible the trials were for the early saints. It's hard not to fall in love with the Steed family and Joseph Smith. You feel like you're living in the early days of the church, what a strong testimony builder! I highly suggest reading this series as well. It's like 12 books. They've also made movies of the first three/ish books but I don't believe they are going to make anymore. too bad cause the movies were pretty good!

I hope I've inspired you to pick up a book this week! All of these books will keep you entrenched I promise! Happy reading!

That's not lame! I love when I have plans to do nothing! Thanks for the list of books to read! I love reading, but I've been so busy with so many things that I haven't had any time to. Hopefully this week I'll get a second to actually pause and enjoy life right now. I'm jealous... Oh and sorry to be all negative, but... I HATE SCHOOL. How did you do it?

Wow. You really HAVE had a lot of time on your hands. I should be as productive. I checked out Don Quixote at the library, but when Brent saw it he said, "Good Luck!" all sarcastically. Now I don't want to read it, despite it being one of the best books ever written.

If you need another to add to your list, might I suggest "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. It's as (if not more) exciting than Twilight and The Host but is filled with a lot more action.
